Sad News And Other Housekeeping Announcements
Today I have some sad news.
After much thought, Allegra has decided to leave TCWT. I know, I know, what a depressing way to start a blog post. I do respect her decision and reasoning, though, and I hope you all will, too. Allegra has been such a great addition to the TCWT team which makes this even sadder. If you haven’t already, be sure to follow her blog and twitter and remind her just how awesome she is. Allegra, you’ve been amazing this past year, and we’re so appreciative of all your hard work. We’re sorry to see you go. To use some Latin: “Vale!”
Now for a pause.

Yes, I snuck a gif in there. It felt appropriate.
Farewell, Allegra!
Hopefully you all will continue to follow TCWT, even when the more interesting half has left. The blog is not ending or anything, and all of it will basically stay the same. Which brings me to the housekeeping portion of this post:
The upkeep of TCWT and all the social media is a lot of work. This is why it started off as two people running it. I’ve been thinking about finding a co-blogger replacement, but in the end I decided that, for now, I’m not going to look for a second person. I’ll attempt (keyword: attempt) to try this myself (though this will probably change–I’ll post a call for a second person if it does) but even so, I still need your help. I’m not able to write every blog post. I’m not able to run every blog chain. I’m not able to handle all the social media. As a result, I’m going to offer all of you a chance to help with TCWT. Like, right now. So let’s tackle everything:
Guest posting: Whether you’re an adult or a teen and have genuine advice to share on TCWT or just a fun idea for a post, I’d love to here from you! And yes, this means we’re now accepting unsollicited guest posts. If you’re interested in guesting on TCWT, please pitch me your idea at TeenRiter(at)gmail(dot)com. If I like the idea, I’ll ask for a full post. If I like the full post, I’ll post it on the blog (with proper credit, of course). Pretty simple, right? Let me know if you have any questions.
Note: I’m trying to schedule some YA book reviews as well so if you’re a reviewer, that falls under the “guest post” category.
Social Media: Currently, TCWT has a twitter, facebook, and tumblr. Links to them are in the sidebar. They’re a lot of work for one person to update, so if you want to help out with the social media, please let me know. You can choose one particular social media to update, or all. Whatever you like, although I’d prefer if you’re already familiar with the social media. So send me an email at TeenRiter(at)gmail(dot)com with whatever social media you currently use and/or want to help out with, and I’ll let you know if you’re accepted. The social media helpers will be added to the “About” page of this blog with a brief bio and links, just FYI.
Note: For this one, you must be between the ages of 13 and 20.
Blog chains: This is where I need the most help. Blog chains. Most of your favorite part about TCWT. I’m still going to be doing the chain myself every other month, but in those in-betweens where Allegra hosted, I need people to help out. So if you ever have an idea for a blog chain prompt, email it to me at TeenRiter(at)gmail(dot)com and if I like it enough, I’ll approve it and you’ll become the formal host of that blog chain. (I’ll assign you the month you’ll host in my email as well.) This means you’ll get the coveted last spot in the schedule and will get credited with the idea on TCWT (I’m even thinking about making a badge that says “Blog Chain Host.” Hmmm….), but it also involves putting together the schedule. I’ll show you how that’s typically done if I approve the idea.
Note: For this one also, you must be between the ages of 13 and 20.
So! I think that’s it. If you’d like to help out in other ways, definitely let me know. I’d be happy to be answer any questions you might have as well. But in the meantime, I’ll reiterate the important point:
TCWT will stay mostly the same. All the features are still going to be here, just the “staff” will be different.
Otherwise, be sure to say goodbye to Allegra. She’ll still be blogging and tweeting, but no longer on TCWT.
Finally, a couple of quick announcements:
- Our one year anniversary of TCWT is coming up soon, and I’m currently planning some awesome pitch contests/agents chats/other stuff. Stay tuned for that!
- Also, the next #TeenWriters chat is this Tuesday at 8EST! These chats have been a lot of fun so far, so be there if you can.

Aww, farewell Allegra, you will be missed.
As for you, mine noble John, I would be more than happy to send in some posts for you (be they reviews, or whatever you fancy), or maybe some minor admin stuff if you fancy – I’m massively over-commited, but I’m far too good at procrastinating to do half the things I should. Let me know if you ever need a batty older teen to whizz by and lend some aid!
Haha, procrastination is a very good skill to have.
I’m also good at it. Thanks for your offers as well. Any guest post submissions/blog chain prompt ideas are greatly appreciatd. Just email if you come up with anything!
Will do!
I echo Charley’s original sentiments, but I don’t know where I’ll be able to help the most. Hosting a blog chain sounds really fun, though… I’ll think about it all and get back to you when you ask for volunteers.
Happy birthday, TCWT! My blog is coming up on that date as well… Sunday, I believe. We’ll have a virtual birthday party for each.
Yeah, the blog chains really are fun, but I don’t think I’d be able to do them every month. If you ever get a prompt idea, it can’t hurt to email (or comment somewhere, really), and it’s cool to do.
Happy birthday to your blog as well! Sunday as in tomorrow? Wow. Congrats on the one year!
Will do, if I think of something.
Thanks! Yes, Sunday as in tomorrow. My brain wasn’t working. When’s the anniversary of this blog?
The 21st. But I’m planning ahead.
Nice. *raises glass of grape juice*
Bye Allegra! I’ll miss you on TCWT, but I’ll still read your other blog.
Oh, and I’d like to help with the blog chains, because it sounds fun, except I’m a pretty new blogger. So I’ll have to think about it for a while… Do you think you could post a list of all the prompts so me (and everyone else, I think) could know that our pitches aren’t repeats?
Ooohhhhhh, that’s a good idea! Yes, I’ll get on that when I have time. And how old your blog is doesn’t really matter if I like your prompt enough. It’s fun to host. As for the prompt list, I’ll get it up on the “Blog Chain” page within a few days.
Well, I became proactive. The past prompts are up NOW!
Allegra…….you shall be missed!
I’m excited about the “housekeeping” part, though. Spunds like fun!
I should probably start thinking about blog chain ideas or they will be all taken and mine shall be in January of 2014 or whatever.
Haha, maybe!
*will miss Allegra a lot*
I’ve had a few ideas for prompts, so I’ll get those over to you soon…
I’m not allowed of FB (yet), but I could maybe update Twitter for TWCT.
Okay! We’ll keep you in mind. Thanks!
Farewell, Allegra, you will be missed.
I’d be willing to submit guest post, should I think of any worthy of this blog, and blog chain prompts. I could probably help out with a blog chain now and then, assuming my schedule isn’t trying to murder me at the time.
